Radio Zokoto welcomes Isabel Guevara Fernández, a researcher at the University of the Basque Country (EHU), for an interview about progress in the FOOD FOREST project.

Connecting research and community

Within the project, Isabel combines the study of ecological changes in the Artajona pilot with citizen science. This work brings natural processes and their connections with the territory and food systems closer to the wider community.

She also gathers the perspectives of stakeholders across the food system to identify opportunities, needs and barriers to implementing and scaling food forests and permaculture.

About Isabel Guevara

Isabel holds a degree in Architectural Studies and a master’s degree in Urban and Territorial Planning from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). She is currently pursuing a PhD in Sustainability and Urban Regeneration at UPM.

Her doctoral research examines the relationship between rural depopulation and changes in the agri-food system in Valladolid, including their social and ecological impacts and the potential of sustainable food systems to revitalise rural areas.
